May 16, 2008 Wow, what a weather change! The trees are budding, flowers are blooming, and the grass is green. Near Cataldo, the Coeur d Alene River is running exceedingly high, and I walked a section of trail I had never been to.
The pink flowering trees lining the waters edge attracted me to the City Park one morning and I like this picture of the historic rock entrance.
I caught these little guys down by the Cedars restaurant. All 13 babies!
Booth Park is a new discovery for me. Primarily a boat launch, but the sky was rather dramatic during my stop there and on Lake Coeur D Alene Drive.
Scenics are my true passion, but I do shoot other imagery as well. Here the Kootenai County Sheriffs Dept. is conducting training exercises in the cold waters of Lake Coeur D Alene, and a Kayaker practices riding a wave in the high runoff of the Spokane River.
The Coeur D Alene press has started a new feature called “Our Place” showcasing local scenic images. I have been told my shots will be featured on Monday, May 19. I guess I jumped the gun, promising a new website by the end of April. Now that my site manager has finished his college finals, he'll be getting to it soon. Thank you Kyle. Until then, I will probably be posting more images in this section, as a sampling of my new shots. I am way behind in uploading to my archive, and as my new site comes up, art prints will get preference on the site, and news/typical stock images will go directly to their respective agencies. I can't wait to go somewhere. I'm not complaining about home, I just love exploring new places, driving roads I've never been on, and seeing things I've never seen. I hope to come back with some good images over Memorial weekend from the North central Idaho area with my new 40D.
April 18, 2008 It has continued to snow off and on, and without it sticking on the ground or stopping completely and letting things turn green-A kind of photographer hell-stuck between two seasons-It has been a waiting game. Of course there are always things to do. The computer work is endless. My images are now available at Fine Art America A couple of outings allowed me to do a little shooting. We took a day trip to central Washington. Visited Summer Falls (on my home page), Dry Falls, Leavenworth, and hiked through the Peshastin Pinnacles. These sandstone crags attract rock climbers, and were fun to walk through. Unfortunately whomever decided on the power line placement had no regard for the beauty of the place.
Ted and I spent an evening in Sandpoint which produced some nice shots. This is of the NW end of the 8000 ft. long BNSF railroad bridge which crosses Lake Pend Oreille.
I thought I was going to make it through the winter without getting sick, but it finally caught me, and it wasn't fun. So, I should probably appreciate that fact that Spring has held off, or I would have been going nuts, not being capable of getting out. I am better now-so bring on the sun. We went for a spur of the moment hike on Tubbs last night. I promised my family it would be a hike/dog walk first, and a photo op second. This means the camera can come, but not all the gear and tripod. Boy am I regretting that one. There were wildflowers everywhere, but with shutter speeds at 1/8 sec. And slower, I will have to get back there with a tripod. Here is a shot of the trail.
Still waiting for Spring, Linda
March 16, 2008 OK, I can finally say I've had enough snow. We haven't had a real "North Idaho Winter" in a long time, so it was good, but I am definitely ready for some nice warm weather and green landscapes. Since I last wrote, I have discovered a few new locales (places I have never been locally). These include- Lake Chatcolet, Corbin Park, and parts of the Trail of the Coeur d' Alenes. I have also done some shooting on the East side of Lake Coeur d' Alene, in the Rose Lake area and at my usual early morning and evening locations. I think I will start including a favorite recent image on this page each month. So.. here is a twilight shot of the Coeur d' Alene skyline from the far point of Tubbs hill.
I have fallen a bit behind in posting new images on my PSA archive, thereby making them viewable in my galleries. But, I have been busy with stock submissions and image requests from one of my newer sales outlets. PSA is not really paying for itself, so I have a hard decision to make, but I do love this new feature they rolled out. Any one of my galleries can be viewed in a nice slideshow mode. Check this out My newest online presences are at the Idaho Commission for the arts. See my listing here And I have applied and been accepted to one more pro stock agency. I am limiting the number of shows I enter this year, so to keep a presence locally, I have put some matted prints and note cards in the new Petal Pushers Marketplace on Government Way. If you get a chance- check it out. I am starting a big batch of matting to include works from the last year that have never been in print. I must have 15+ new trios in the works, so watch for them when my new website comes online around the end of April. (this website had a catastrophe a couple months ago and is only about 1/2 working at the moment) Oh, and I am now officially doing business as "Idaho Scenic Images" in addition to Linda Lantzy Photography, so I will be integrating that into my site, etc. Til later, Linda Jan 26, 2008
Snow! We have had a lot of it this
winter, and I have been out during the storm, after the fresh
snowfall and plenty of times once the sun was shining again. I
really haven't traveled far from home this month, but I have
done more winter photography than ever before. You can find some
of these shots in my "most recent" gallery.

A couple cool things to post
I was selected as the featured
visual arts photographer on the Idaho Artists website. I don't
know how long this honor lasts, but you can check it out here
www.idahoartists.com
And I was approached by a new online
art magazine about having an image in thier debut issue starting
February 1st. This will provide some nice exposure. View the
magazine here
www.antidull.com
Also, I finally got a DVD out to
Idaho stock images. I was accepted as a contributing
photographer back in November. So, we should see some of my
images up on their site soon. They feature the best
photographers in the state of Idaho. Their site is
www.idahostockimages.com
All in all, I'd say it's been a
pretty good month! Linda
